Canine Good Citizen -Foundation & Bronze
(intermediate)

The Purina Pro Plan Canine Good Citizen TM (CGC) Test is a certification program that tests dogs in simulated everyday situations in a relaxed atmosphere. It identifies and rewards dogs that have the training and demeanour to be reliable family members as well as good-standing community members. It is open to all purebred and crossbred dogs. Dogs must be 12 months of age to attend. Interested handlers should visit DogsNZ for more information on exercises at this level.

The purpose of the CGC Test is to ensure that our favourite companion, the dog, can be a respected member of the community because it is trained and conditioned to act with good manners in the home, in public, and in the presence of other dogs. Handlers and Dogs must first pass Foundation and Bronze to continue onto Silver and Gold training. Upon successful assessment, handlers receive a ribbon and certificate for each level from DogsNZ.

Canine Good Basics
(basic)

Canine Good Basics (CGB) is a programme that is intended to be readily achievable for any dog and handler and a step towards Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certifications.  It was launched in July 2017.

The Canine Good Basics exercises reflect what is expected of a pet dog in the learning stages of its training.  It is achievable for the average pet dog owner and, like CGC, is based on practical everyday tasks.

For information and details on skill level and exercises please visit DogsNZ website.

Dogs must be 6 months of age to be assessed for CGB.

Training Stay-Overs

Training stay-overs are a great option for busy owners who want a trained dog but are perhaps a) unsure how to train their dog and b) too busy to find the time to train their dog reliably.

Your dog will come and stay with us at Fur Kids where we spend time each day one-on-one, training your dog using our positive reinforcement techniques.

At the conclusion of your dogs stay with us, we will demonstrate what your dog has learnt with us and show you how to maintain this new training standard in your home environment.

Should you require it, we will also provide you with ongoing support in maintaining your dogs training at home.
